They do need a somewhat quieter spot to build the nest. Dwarfs are also more obsessive then other types of gourami's in that regard. They get very elaborate about the nests, collecting plant debris and tucking it in with the bubbles. You can create an acceptable spot,depending on just how intense your current is by growing some tall plants like jungle val. As it grows and starts to lay out on top of the water it sort of helps to block the current and create areas for him to build. My gourami's have spawned several times but never successfully hatched any. I don't go out of my way to help them succeed though because I don't necessarily want any fry. I do like that they have the opportunity to try anyway though. Keeps em interested and occupied.
