I have a really small cichlid that is living in a 30 gallon tank right now . . . with 4 zebra danios that i cycled the tank with. he doesn;t even bother them but they are pretty fast. what i wanted to know is if i were to put some adult guppies in the tank and let them breed would he just eat the babies. I was kinda hopping that he would and that could be a way for him to get live food at little expense to me. and lastly what are the chance the guppies wouldnt have babies?

He might but its not a great idea those fish need a mostly vegetable diet.If he ate a bunch at once he could get bloat.

If you add Java Moss or some sort of floating plants, that would give the babies a place to hide and a chance to grow.
Amazingly, It's not just fish!!

Algae, flake, live-(snails, bloodworms, mosquito larvae, crustaceans, snails, Tubifex), chopped meat, pellets, tablets, plant matter, vegetables-(peas, lettuce, spinach), fruit
Yours is not to question why, mine is to buy fish and die.
