I have a black molly that is nipping at other fish. He chases them around the tank and nips at their back end near the anal fin. It started with another molly that had a fungus but he's been doing it to all the fish in the tank. Anyone have help or ideas?

I had a male guppy that was aggressive as well... my decision was to get rid of him, or put you could put him in solitary confinement...

putting aggressive fish in "solitary confinement" doesn't work. fish have no memory and don't feel remorse about their behaviour when seen as something negative by you. they're just doing what fish do and behaving quite normally to their environnment and tankmates. aggressive fish are just that and will remain that, your efforts to the contrary. if the behaviour of that fish bothers the other fish, then remove it and perhaps take it back to the LFS. if it's only bothering YOU, i'd consider leaving things alone.

I think April meant permanently, not as a temporary punishment for behavior modification...

If I suggested putting Hot sauce or bitter apple on the anal fins of the other fish, I would get into trouble, so I won't

I appreciate the offer of hot sauce but I don't think it would mix well with my 8th grade boys. They would have other things "hot". Solitary is not an option. Any other ideas?

Give him a dunce cap and banish him to the corner of the tank for a while?

Unfortunately there's not much you really can do except remove him. It's a very powerless feeling. Like, when my dogs start fighting with each other I can yell at them and they stop. Too bad that doesn't work with fish too!
