Hi,

I've just noticed that one of my lemon tetras has what appears to be a blocked nostril. It seems to have some sort of fuzzy growth coming out of one of it's nostrils - I think it might be a little red and inflamed but it's hard to tell. The fish doesn't seem to be unhappy - it is still swimming around etc...

None of the other fish in the tank are showing any symptoms of anything and I've never seen anything like this before, and I can't find anything hat looks the same on the net. If anyone has any information on what his might be I'd be very grateful.

Thanks,

Joel

ps i shall be visiting my lfs tomorrow, unfortunately it's too late tonight :-(

I had a fish get that once, was bad news...I am no expert, but does it look anything like what is in this article?

I am sure someone with more knowledge will answer too, but my fish got this and died within a day. That night he had just a tiny spot by his lip, by the morning was covered! The fluff grew so fast I didn't even have time to go to the store. Hope this is not what you have!

Thanks, but fortunately it doesn't look like that (yet :-() It seems to be a bit redder in colour, it looks kind of spongier and it's only in one nostril still. The area around it looks a little inflamed but it doesn't seem to have grown since my last post.

(lol "spellchecker"... can't spell "colour" correctly can it?!)

what size tank?
how many fish?
what kinds of fish?
what are your readings for ammonia, nitrIte, nitrAte, and pH?
Answering these will allow us to help you much more efficiently.
