I have 2 clown loaches and they seem to have what looks like cotton in their mouths and they are breathing pretty fast. Can someone tell me what they have and if I can help them. They are in a 40 gallon tank.

Linda,

Not really any short answers available. I recommend investigating these two links:

cotton in the mouth? make sure you check the photos of "cotton mouth", or columnaris, out.

really need water specs, tank stocking and tank size. we might be able to help you figure out what it is. but, without that other stuff--hard to make sure it does not come back.
