I thought one of my plants was dying because the leaves were black, and I just realized it was algae. I almost threw the plant out, and it's healthy. Glad I realized my mistake.

How do you get rid of this stuff from a plant? MY new tank seems much more prone than my old one, and I have no idea why.

probably diatoms. Keep cleaning it. It'll give up as time goes on and your tnk matures. You'll spend more time trying to figure out how to get rid of it than simply wiping it off.
