I've got a banana plant and it now has two pads on top of the water and it looks like its sending another up. are these going to end up taking over the whole surface of the tank? also do they ever flower?

It`ll keep sending it`s leaves to the surface, and yes, eventually it will take over the surface. The time it takes depends on how big the suface is and how much you prune them. You can also teach them to stay low by cutting any leaf that dares make a dash for the surface, although I haven`t yet had much luck doing it with my lotus.

I've never had banana plants send up so many leaves that they cover the surface.

Well there are only two pads on the surface at the moment but its sending another one up as we speak. its kinda cool but it would be a little hard to feed if the surface is covered with them ya know?

I have a 20 gallon that my lotus covers. It really only takes a few leaves. They`re as big as dinner plates. When I wanna make some room, I just cut a few of them out and the plant caries on. The problem is that once the leaves reach the surface, all the leaves will be sent there, and your submersed leaves will be no more.

(from what I`ve read)
