I've got a banana plant and it now has two pads on top of the water and it looks like its sending another up. are these going to end up taking over the whole surface of the tank? also do they ever flower?
It`ll keep sending it`s leaves to the surface, and yes, eventually it will take over the surface. The time it takes depends on how big the suface is and how much you prune them. You can also teach them to stay low by cutting any leaf that dares make a dash for the surface, although I haven`t yet had much luck doing it with my lotus.Ever feel like you`re flying and drowning at the same time?
I have a 20 gallon that my lotus covers. It really only takes a few leaves. They`re as big as dinner plates. When I wanna make some room, I just cut a few of them out and the plant caries on. The problem is that once the leaves reach the surface, all the leaves will be sent there, and your submersed leaves will be no more.
