I'm not considering doing this, but I was wondering about halogen lights.
They are super cheap and put out lots of watts.
Any reason why I haven't heard about anyone using them?

I think I remember something from my theatre tech class in HS about halogen bulbs....if you touch the bulb, the oils in your skin will react with it and cause a little explosion. Maybe that was just the seniors jerking our freshmen chains, but maybe not?
Ok...so I'm a LOTR fan...

um, they get really really really really hot...
I wouldn't use them for that reason alone.

They USE alot of watts. Their output isn`t that great. Most of their power is wasted in heat, which you know is alot. You could use them, but it`ll get hot and it`ll cost you quite a bit more in electricity. Long term, they`re not the cheap nor the practical choice.
