i disolved sugar in the water put it in a 2 liter bottle, put in the yeast, screwed the cap on, waited a while and got nothing going through the airline hose anyone have any idea what i did wrong? i disolved 3\4 of a cup of sugar in hot water, let it cooled add another 3 cups of water and added a pinch of yeast to a bottle, screwed on the cap which had an airline hose siloconed to it.

How long did you wait? It can take 24 hours. make sure you give it good shake when you add the yeast, and every couple of days after that.

how can i tell if its bad yeast?

I always hydrate my yeast in room temp water. It has a sweet smell. Bad yeast has no smell. Now, this works in beer-making...I have never done the CO2 deal.

okayi made a second batch, and i got the same results. i'm gonna toss this pack of yeast and try another pack. i have a question though, it says "dissolve" the yeast. I cant get it to dissolve like the sugar does.

its bad. Try getting FRESH yeast. Beer brewing stores sell it.I'd be leary of grocery store yeast. Check the date on the packet....

the packet (new one) says its up in november (06). this time when i mixed it it seemed to disolve, and also when i was letting it all sit togehter (b4 i hoooked it up to my tank) i noticed LOTS of bubbles on the walls of the 2 liter bottle. i'm assuming this is good?

the yeast will breakdown into a muddy brown layer on the bottom. I use a 1/2 teaspoon/bottle.
I'm only a Landscaper; not an English Teacher.
