I've had one for a few days now.He isn't as brilliant blue as he should be, more of a dark blue/brown color. How long before he gets his bright blue colors back? He also is annoying me by up-rooting my plants. Is this typical behaviour? I also noticed he doesn't have his long antennea. Looks like they broke off somewhere along in his life. Do they grow back?
Sorry I didn't see that no one had responded to your post earlier, Ron. I don't know a lot about lobsters, but I'll give it a shot.
The antenna will grow back after a few molts (or less). I'm afraid that uprooting plants is typical behavior for most of the larger crustaceans.
Your "lobster" might be stressed, or due to molt. If I understand correctly, the color is brighter in older individuals, but I couldn't tell you how old is old, or how long it takes.Possibly, the truest test of one's capacity for compassion, is whether one can love a snail.
