There are a lot of different kinds of snails out there...you'll have to be more specific.

Ron...

there are also a lot of different species included under apple snails. Do you know the species?

Have you cruised around http://applesnail.net yet? I have to say it is the best apple snail resource out there and even the snail gurus here recommend it and are members there. If you aren't getting satisfactory answers for some of your really specific apple snail questions, you might try posting on their board too.
There! You have a bigger tank! Will you stop plotting my death now??

I'm just looking for a general answer...months, or years? I've looked at that sight briefly, it is useful.

Again, that depends on the type of apple snail you have. Are you talking about spixis (Asolene spixi), brigs (Pomacea bridgesii) or canas (Pomacea canaliculata)?
Out of insanity comes brilliance...or was it the other way around?

As a general rule, brigs and canas will live a couple of years. I've known them to live over three years, but more often die earlier due to husbandy issues.
Possibly, the truest test of one's capacity for compassion, is whether one can love a snail.
