I'm starting up a new tank and was wondering if anyone out there has any experience with these fish(Dimidiochromis compressiceps). I am a beginner when it comes to aquariums and have enlisted the help of my local aquatic pet store owner, he told me to go and make a list of the fish that I'm considering for this new tank and I came across this guy. Now I know he doesn't seem to be a real get along with everyone type, but I just would like to hear about any experiences that people might have had with them.
Thanx in advance.

I hear some people use them in mixed mbuna tanks to wipe out all the hybrid fry.
Waiting will fill

I was planning a min. of 120gal. if the wife ok's it we're going into the 200-225range. I'm tryin to settle on a peacock and one other species to be tank mates, what ever I choose I'll be supplying the males with some companions.

Well thanks to the tank...i'm jealous, lol.

Haplochromines, Synodontis cats, larger mbunas, Polypterus species(birchirs), and Afromastacembelus are my personal and google suggestions.

Especially the polypterus.. lol

Welcome to Badmans.
Wish I had your budget. :-)
If you go through a day without learning something new, you wasted it!

Save yourself a couple thousand bucks and consult & make purchases online.
Ohh unless you trust the lfs and get a 30% discount.

Filter and heater $80
65 gallon aquarium $280
Gazing at your Apistogramma for hours on end.....
PRICELESS!!!

Well, The wife cringed and we set a limit for the tank. Now to see if I can swing a deal to match. Thanx for the input and the warm welcome. As far as the budget goes I think she's being generous because I decided not to get the new boat I was in the process of making a deal on. Anyways, I have alot of research to do before I settle on some fish. another question though, my lfs owner said I might want to get breeding sets of fish because it will probably be the next progression in this hobby. Basically saying, if I just get a bunch of fish because I like the way they look I will soon tire of them and then decide to start breeding and will have to re-structure my fish. True?
