im getting a 55 gallon tank today and i wanted to know, will i be able to mix figure 8 puffers, green scats and ciclids together?

No, unless the cichlids are orange chromides. Compatibiity is not as important as the fact that the puffers and scats are brackish and most cichlids are FW.

I've never kept puffers, but most people recommend a species tank for most puffers.

Puffers like to eat other fish's tails. They are very nippy. I would not keep them with any of my brackish fish. I would only keep them as species only.

You may get away with the scats, you may not. It depends on the temperment of the individual puffer.

I personally wouldn`t try more than 3 puffers in a 55 and even then, only if it`s well planted (plastic too) to break up the lines of sight.
