can my betta go into a 25 gal with my blue & dwarf gouramis.
my betta is in a pitcher next to the tank & whenever
a gourami swims by, the betta flares up. but my friend says
that he's had them together with no problems. i'd
love to put my betta in the tank. any experiences?

Betta are not good community fish. Gourami are unpredictable
fish. What works for you friend may not for you and you
are taking a chance that the betta will end up with torn
fins and possibly die from stress. Some people successfully
maintain weird combos of fish, it's just not recommended
and may shorten the life span of your pet.

Ya, it probably wouldn't be wise to stick em' together
in a 25 gallon. I'd say they'd be ok in like a 40
with some plants and cover, but in a 25 there's no room
to swim away and hide. The fact the betta flares at the
sight of the gourami gives you all the more proof they wouldn't
be compatible.

is your betta a female or male? i am currently keeping a
female betta with a blue dwarf gourami and they get along
fine and the biggest surprise of all is that they're
in a 2 gallon tank with no filter and no heater. They never
mess with each other only stay away from each other until
its feeding time.

What!? A 2 gallon with a dwarf gourami and a betta? I'm
sorry but that's no good at all. I don't mean to
flame or anything, but I see that as pretty cruel. The fact
there is no heater is bad, but no filter!? I hope this is
VERY temporary.

Betta don't need a heater, but I used one with my gourami.
I agree the ammonia in a two gallon tank with both fish
most be extremely high! Also the poor little guys have absolutely
no room to move.
