 THE EMPEROR 280

2-oz. Emperor Filter Cartridges, 4-oz. Refillable Media Containers, and Spray Bar Driven BIO-Wheels Certified Flow: 280GPH

Flow and filtration efficiencies unmatched by other filters in their class; as much as twice the filter cartridge capacity; additional chemical filtration capability; extra effective, spray bar-driven BIO-Wheel wet/dry biological filtration... The Emperor filtration systems truly are the future of advanced aquarium technology.

The Emperor systems feature not one pump (as in ordinary power filters), but two separate water pumps. The Flow Pump directs water through the entire multi-stage filtration system. The BIO-Pump pressurizes and sends streams of prefiltered, oxygen-rich water through he adjustable spray bars to power each BIO-Wheel.

And... The Emperor's unique, patent pending design allows the BIO-Pump to continue powering the BIO-Wheels even when Flow Pump output is reduced by the convenient One-Touch Flow Control.

In my 1600 gallon aquarium(yes 1600) I have had 12 bala sharks for about 11 years now, and they are all 10 inches or more! They are my favorite fish to have. They all spit gravel at you until you throw in their 6"x6" beach ball which they protect from the angels, which are almost larger than the ball. DO NOT keep these fish in anything under 50 gallons, for they need the room to thrive.

An adaptable and efficient filter. It is the only power filter I know of that efficiently aerates the water surface throughout its inherent design. The bio-wheel truly ERADICATES ammonia. The filter pads are a bit pricey, but the separate media container allows you to choose media as you see fit, without resorting to messy (and floating) media bags.

I have used this filter for years and it has proved to be very reliable and almost maintainence free. I also like the idea of placing my own media in the optional holder. For an all-purpose hang on back power filter I feel you are getting a good bang for your buck.

I have had this product for about a month and it works great. It has reduced the ammonia and nitrate in my tank to nothing. Much better than my old whisper filter. I use it on my 30 gal. with a 8" Red Oscar in it. Great product Marineland

This is the best power filter on the market in my opinion. It provides excellent filtration while maintaining the bacteria on the built in bio wheel. It is easy to care for, and it allows you to put extra carbon or ammo chips in a separate holder in the back of the filter. It is defiantly worth the money.

The Emperor 280 is a wonderful filter. It cycled my 30 gallon, fully stocked tank in about 8 days. It has keep my ammo and nitrate levels @ 0. Great, great filter.

This is a great filter. The only draw back is the expensive cartridges, but it is easy to make your own out of filter floss. However, the Emperor 400 is a better buy. For only four dollars more you can get an extra 120 gal/hr filtration with the emperor 400 at Big Al's Online.

Good filter, it's a steal if you can find one on sale as they have been recently (8/2003). Mine's very noisy compared to my Penguin 170, which is silent.
