I purchased a 25W THEO heater for a hospital tank because of the special glass, auto-shutoff, and unobtrusive design. I thought the "clicks" for each degree was pretty nice as well. However, the thermostat is way off. To keep the water at a constant 80 degrees F., the thermostat must be set at its maximum setting. The actual temp bears no correlation as to what is set on the thermostat. Nice "looking" heater. But that's about it.

While Hydor claims their patented technology as perhaps the best thing since melted butter I disagree. Their printed heat film may be good for car window defrosters but in my aquarium it was not appropriate. Perhaps if they had a better thermostat all would be well. I had to replace a new unit because it was not accurate and that could be dangerous to your aquatic life. This is when I learned from the retailer that these heaters may be off by as much as 17 degrees F. I replaced it with another more reliable brand; I don’t recommend the Theo Hydor heater.
