Product: Penguin biowheel 300

Great Filter-I use it along with another filter on a 55 gallon. As with my other experiences with Marineland -I love it. Great bang for the buck as is their way it seems-in my humble opinion.
Product: biowheel 100 power filter

I use this filter on a 20 gallon fresh water tank and I have never seen such clear water for as long a period of time. This is in my opinion a great product.

I use 330's almost exclusively on all of my tanks (10 gallon-125gallon) even the tanks with fry...I wrap some Java moss around the intake and the lil ones stay in the tank...the flow rate is reduced but its worth it. The reasons I use them are they are quite, cheap ( 25$ online) and the bio wheel makes cycling a new tank VERY quick...I just swap a bio-wheel from an established tank and im ready to overstock :)

Let me start off with the 330. This filter is great for easy and quite filtration. It is not as efficient as the Emperor but it still out does whisper, aqua clear, and many other powerfilters. The smaller models are great to use on smaller tanks. I have a 170 and 125 on my 43 hex, 2x125 on my 30 gallon, 2x100, one on my ten gallon sick tank and the other on my ten gallon in my room. The biowheels work great. I recommend these filters to all who like to have clean and clear tanks

I've had the 110 running for about 8 months and it has always kept my tank perfectly clear, and all levels tested fine. One day it did block and dumped 10 gallons all over my lounge floor, not the best thing to wake up to. But cleaned it out and it works fine, been toying with the idea of buying the 160 for my 40 gal. tank, but because it is a long tank, I don't believe it creates enough of a current, the only downside to this great filter.

My Penguin 300 is a mule. It is 11 years old and still works as it did back in the day. I cannot say how many times I arrived home after an apparent power outage and heard the thing gurgling, just trying to get the prime back. With a scoop of water poured into the unit the gurgle slowly fades into the quiet(and relaxing) sound of trickling water. The thing still has It's original impeller. If it were not for changing the dual rite-size filters, (and the occasional prime up) I would not have to go near it. As much as I would like to try one of the newer Penguin filters, I just don't have a reason to. But when the day comes and this one goes to the ol' filter graveyard, you can bet your ugliest Pleco it will be replaced with another Penguin. Great product Marineland.

I have been using a Penguin 125 for the past six months, and it seems to do a great job of keeping the aquarium clean. It's easy to use and low maintenance. However, it has also killed five of my fish! If they get too close to the intake basket, it sucks them in and they cannot escape its suction power. They struggle for hours, until I happen to notice and free them, but its usually too late and the damage to their scales or fins has been done. This is very frustrating, not to mention, expensive. If anyone has a solution, please email me.

filter:Penguin 330B Dual Bio-Wheel Filter

I only wish this kind of technology had been available (and AFFORDABLE) some 25 years ago when I was raising and breeding cichilids! I've retuned to fishkeeping with a community tank five years ago using a Penguin 330B (used to be 300B) on a 30 gallon rig (along with a Penguin powerhead 1140 on a UGF)...and I've never had any problems whatsoever...The water is ALWAYS crystal clear, and I like the advantage of using extra media of choice with the media baskets provided. The only drawback is the splashing noise you'll hear as the water level diminishes due to evaporation, so keep that water level maintained! Also the Bio Wheels work only when spinning, so it is important to keep the axles and plastic bearings free of grit or water substance deposits...Otherwise..GREAT PRODUCT!

Great filter. I have this one running in my 37 gallon for about 4 months now, and aside from the cartridge changes, I haven't had to even touch the thing. It keeps my water crystal clear and the bio-wheel keeps the ammonia and nitrates down. I also have a Penguin Mini in my 10 gallon, and it is just as good as it's bigger brother. Great filter for a beginner, because it's relatively inexpensive, very easy to use and maintain, and above all very effective.

This filter is _silent_! If the water levels too low there will be a waterfall sound, if it's only a bit low there will be a water trickle sound that is quite relaxing. Maintenance is about as simple as it could possibly be.
