I have had Oscars for several years now. Although many pet stores and fish compatibility charts call them aggressive, I have found that if they are kept with fish that are close to the same size, they seem timid. I have had them with angels and gouramis (smaller Oscars of course) and have had no problem. Oscars seem much less territorial than other types of chiclids.

This fish certainly has a strong personality and is smart! my boyfriend is the real owner but oscar's been around 4 years and is healthy. he attacks any peripherals the bf puts in, like filter/heater apparatus. he's a butthead sometimes.

we purchased oscars about a month ago, and they very very quickly. they grew about 1 inch. They became too agressive and we got rid of them, they should be kept alone!!

Ive learned that if you dont start your oscars out young eating pellets or flakes as they mature they wont take anything but live food, well thats my experiance.

From what I've read Oscars are not easy to take care of. This is due to the amount of waste they put of and the 40% water changes you should due weekly to keep ammonia levels down
