I am sad to report that our puffer Blip , the one in the pictures above, died a couple of months ago. He had progressed into a 100 gall tank and was nearly 2ft long , was a fab character who definitely recognized and interacted with different family members (honestly,!)Unfortunately we had to move house and the whole move was planned around the fish , despite
all our heroic efforts to not stress him out , he never recovered from the move. He didn't puff up when caught , was placed in a large tub of heated and filtered water for the move and put back into the newly set up tank gently. He continued to feed for a while , but then went on hunger strike , became dark in color , started to swim wobbly and then bellied up :( The water quality remained good the whole time , so it wasn't that, just the stress I think. I now have discus in the 100 gall tank , continue with piranha in a 50 gall tank , who all survived the move , and to keep the puffer interest have a "flock" of pigmy puffers in a 10 gall tank , they look like mini mbu , very sweet.
