90 gal Discus tank I have 3-5 1/2", 1-4 1/2", 2-2 1/2" discus,
and a 5" goldie pleco in my tank. I used small gravel that is black
and grey in color as a substrate and put in a lot of driftwood and
tall plants. I also put in a dark background consisting of a heavily
planted and driftwood scene. I use 2 150-watt submersible metal heaters
that keep the tank at 86 degrees. For filtration I use a 125 wet/dry
filtration system with an overhang and a Penguin 500 with the siphon
extra long to pull up water from the bottom. I do 10% water changes
every other day using Prime, Blackwater extract, Wardley liquid water
softener, and Discus essential (vitamins and minerals). I keep my
ph high at about 6.8, as discus are now being bred at higher a ph
to suit the needs of consumers. I feed my discus a variety of foods
2-3 times a day that consists of live and frozen bloodworms, beefheart,
live and frozen brine shrimp, myasis, Emerald entree, spirulina discs,
Wattley discus, and chopped shrimp. Thank you, I hope that you found
my tank enjoyful.
