I discovered this store recently and have been there pretty much weekly since then. The store has an amazing variety of freshwater and saltwater fish. They also have a great selection of driftwood etc. From my experience, the staff seems very knowledgeable. All of the fish appear to be very happy and healthy and I don't know if I have seen a dead fish yet. I think my favorite part of visiting these stores is checking out their display tanks, including a 2000 gallon package that retails for $89,000... wow. I recommend anyone in the DFW to check this place out.

Large FW selection including many rare varieties unseen in most local pet
stores, and a dazzling display of African Cichlids. SW specimens are dazzling.
Their very helpful and knowledgeable (although busy- service may not be
as prompt as desired) staff is eager to please. Prices are higher on most
items ($10.00 for male bettas!!!), but wide selection and friendly salespeople
make the experien ce worth the few extra bucks. Don't leave without seeing
their showroom!!

In my opinion, the is THE best fish & supply store in this area. The fish
selection is wide and changes frequently (both fresh and salt water stock).
Prices are comparable (my male beta was only $4.60). Some items are slightly
higher but most are at market price or right below. The time & knowledge
of the staff more than compensate for any of the minor price increases,
found mostly on equipment. The staff is friendly, approachable and truly
take time to educate you. Through this, TFG has SAVED me several hundred
dollars that other stores would have gladly taken from me. Definitely worth
checking out before going anywhere else!

The Fish Gallery has impressive aquariums and great show aquariums, especially
the 2000 gallon one on the far left wall but the aquariums are overpriced.
They have a large stock of fish (both fresh and saltwater fish), some are
cool and rare but most of them are common. HOWEVER, many of the aquariums
have visibly sick fish (i.e. Ick, tailrot, etc.) - that aren't even quarantined
AND STILL FOR SALE!! - and a few others are just barely hanging on. Overall,
this fish store was disappointing because they overpriced their aquariums
and more importantly, the health of their fish is horrible. That said, I
will avoid this store for fear that their fish would contaminate my healthy
fish.

I normally shop at another store, but one of the Fish Gallery employees
was in my regular store when I was there and told me how wonderful Fish
Gallery was so I decided give it a visit. This is the old Village Tropical
that was bought several years ago and moved about a year ago (and changed
the name in the process). This is a clean tidy store with some neat displays.
That said, the fish stock was very poor and many of the fish had questionable
health. The regular supplies were sparse and the shelves looked very empty,
however I was there on a Monday after the weekends traffic. I would have
given them another chance had it not been the constant pressuring by the
salespeople to let them do my maintenance for me. I have kept my own aquariums
for about 15 years and let them know that, however the were very pushy and
told me that they would do a better job! This really ticked me off (their
arrogance that is), so I started asking questions and soon realized that
the three staffers I talked to knew almost nothing about fish keeping. I
can only imagine what they do to peoples aquariums when they maintain them.
I asked to speak with the owner or manager, and heard him tell his staff
that he didn't have time to talk with me because I wasn't interested in
a maintenance program -- yes He said it when I could hear it - almost obvious
about it. I guess that is where the staff gets their arrogance. I will most
likely stay with my favorite store and not return.
