Common Name: Uaru
Size: 8-12" (20-30cm) in captivity.
Habitat: South America: Amazon River basin, along the Amazon-Solimões River drainage from the Japurá River to the Tapajós River, and in the middle and lower Negro River basin. .
Min Tank Size: 75 gallon per pair minimum
Diet: Mainly herbivoros, Relishes live food, but will eagerly accept all types of prepared or frozen foods.
Behavior: Very aggressive feeders, though fairly shy, schoolers.
Water: Temperature: 80ºF-85ºF (26º- 30ºC), pH range: 5.0 – 7.0; dH range: 5 - 12.
Care: Easy.
Communities: Love their own kind, but can be in a community, prefer wamer water than most fish.
Suitability: Good if you can keep larger fish.
