Moderate. Soft sandy substrate is preferred for
keeping sensitive barbels safe when they dig. Small, rounded gravel
is also acceptable. To create cover, choose caves, driftwood and
tall or floating plants. Substrate should be kept impeccably clean
to avoid barbel infections. Water should have a moderate current
and high in dissolved oxygen.
An excellent addition to peaceful community tanks.
Tankmates might include anabantoids, characins, dwarf cichlids,
cyprinids, danios, livebearers, rasboras and other peaceful catfish.
Most confident and outgoing as part of a shoal of at least 6,
keeping a male to female ratio of 1:1.
