Tin Foil Barb

Species: Barbonymus schwanenfeldii
Common Name: Tin Foil Barb
Size: Up to 13.75 in (35 cm)
Habitat: ASIA: Rivers and Lake in Borneo, Sumatra and Thailand.
Note: Should not be considered a home aquarium fish, young are sometimes seen for sale and caution should taken before purchasing. It is unfair to subject any animal to less than ideal living conditions.
Min Tank Size: At least 125 gallons for young, public aquarium for mature specimens.
Diet: Omnivorous, prefers plant based but will accept all types of food, flake, frozen and pellets.
Behavior: lively and peaceful, will eat anything it can fit into its' mouth.
Water: Temperature of 70°F to 77°F (21°-25° C) ,pH range: 6.0 – 7.7; dH range: 2 - 10.
Care: Easy and hardy. Needs lots of large open swimming space.
Communities: Very large cichlids and catfish or keep alone or in a small group. Will form schools.
Suitability: Poor, grows to large for most home aquaria.
