Species: Synchiropus splendidus
Common Name: Mandarinfish
Size: 3" (10 cm).
Habitat: Western Pacific: Philippines, Indonesia, Australia, and New Guinea.
Min Tank Size: 20 Gallon reef for a singles species tank, though with their independent nature larger is always better.
Diet: Omnivorous: Feeds chiefly on small invertebrates in nature, and are usually very picky, expecting specifically: vitamin-enriched live brine shrimp, live black worms, harpacticoud copeopods, fish eggs, ostracods, and natural prey on live rock and live sand.
Behavior: A peaceful species that won't harass or harm others.
Water: Temperature of 72 to 82°F (22 28°C), pH 8.0-8.4, sg 1.023-1.026, dKH 8-12
Care: Requires saltwater and reef-like conditions with lots of mixed hiding and open areas.
Communities: Can be housed with other peaceful saltwater and reef fish.
Suitability: Good for all with experience with salt-water systems.
