Habitat: SOUTH AMERICA: Amazon, Corantijn, Essequibo, Orinoco, and Paraná River basins; also in major rivers of the Guianas.
Min Tank Size: At least 55 gallons for adult.
Diet: Carnivorous, flake, frozen, pellets and live not fussy.
Behavior: Peaceful and social with other large fish, will eat small fish.
Water: Temperature of 75°F to 81°F (24°-27° C) , pH range: 6.5 – 7.2; dH range: 5 - 18
Care: Easy, can adapt to most conditions.
Communities: Do not keep with small fish.
Suitability: Good for all with consideration for its size and requirements.
